Dear Colleagues and other supporters of our Annual Meeting:
Late today, after much thoughtful consideration and evaluation, the leadership and
staff of the American Society of Anesthesiologists decided to accept the offer of
the good people of Atlanta to host our 2005 Annual Meeting from October 22-26 at the
Georgia World Congress Center. We appreciate their willingness to make this work on
such short notice.
The ASA Executive Office has received numerous telephone calls and e-mails from members asking what impact Hurricane Katrina has had on the upcoming ASA Annual Meeting scheduled for October 22-26 in New Orleans.
While the situation in New Orleans remains tenuous and unsettled, ASA officers and staff are monitoring the situation closely and assessing all options for the 2005 Annual Meeting. More information is needed before a decision can be made. First and foremost are our concerns for the health and welfare of the citizens of Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and, specifically, New Orleans.
